Westlake is 7-0 against Campbell since November of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Westlake Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Campbell Spartans at 7:30 p.m. Westlake will be strutting in after a victory while Campbell will be coming in after a defeat.
Westlake stacked a sixth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 28-7 margin over East Coweta. The victory was just what Westlake needed coming off of a 31-7 loss in their prior match.
Westlake's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Naeem Odeniyi, who rushed for 139 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Odeniyi was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 65 yards. Tomir Bransford was in the mix as well, providing Westlake with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 41 points the game before, Campbell were a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They were outmatched by Carrollton at home and fell 63-7. While losing is never fun, Campbell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while Carrollton is ranked fifth).
Despite the loss, Campbell saw an underclassman step up: Marlon May rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown.
Westlake's win was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.8 points per game. As for Campbell, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Westlake against Campbell in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 56-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westlake since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
