The Sankofa Freedom Academy Warriors lost against the Academy at Palumbo Griffin back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Sankofa Freedom Academy was dealt a 51-22 defeat at the hands of Academy at Palumbo. Sankofa Freedom Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-18.
Academy at Palumbo was led to victory by Aisha Muibi and Reece Jackson-roane. Muibi scored 11 points along with five assists, while Jackson-roane dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was Muibi's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tascianna Xavier, who scored five points along with five assists and three steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Sankofa Freedom Academy and nudges their season record down to 0-2-1. As for Academy at Palumbo, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sankofa Freedom Academy will face off against Little Flower Catholic for Girls at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Academy at Palumbo, they will head out on the road to face off against Carver High School of Engineering & Science at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Carver High School of Engineering & Science focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Monday.
