After flying high against Weatherly last Friday, the Shenandoah Valley Blue Devils came back down to earth. Shenandoah Valley was outmatched by Marian Catholic at home and fell 50-20. Shenandoah Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-8.
It was another big night for Frankie Martinelli, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals for Marian Catholic. Those six rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Carly Minchhoff, who scored 11 points.
Shenandoah Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Marian Catholic, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shenandoah Valley will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bloomsburg at 7:00 p.m. on December 27th. Marian Catholic will be home for the holidays to greet Weatherly at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Weatherly focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
