The Lathrop Spartans are on the road again on Tuesday and play against the West Wolfpack at 6:30 p.m. on December 5th. Lathrop will be strutting in after a victory while West will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Saturday, Lathrop was able to grind out a solid victory over Orestimba, taking the game 28-20.
Marianna Delgado was the offensive standout of the game as she scored 7 points.
Meanwhile, West ended up a good deal behind Irvington on Wednesday and lost 46-30. West has struggled against Irvington recently, as their match on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, West got a solid performance out of Athena Pastran, who scored 17 points. Pastran continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaliyah Byrd, who scored 6 points.
Lathrop's victory lifted them to 3-1 while Orestimba's loss dropped them down to 0-2.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Lathrop have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like West struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.5 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
Everything came up roses for Lathrop against West in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 51-20 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lathrop since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
