Holden Cane and Tom Lardner made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Cane tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Lardner pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in May of 2024. At bat, Cane scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Lardner went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Cane has become a key player for Branson: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mo Jacoby, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Leo Diaz also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, St. Patrick-St. Vincent won against Berean Christian on Tuesday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. St. Patrick-St. Vincent walked away with an 8-5 win over Hercules. While the Bruins didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Mathew Thacker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits.
On the hitting side, St. Patrick-St. Vincent let Bo Smith and Madden Mendez run wild. Smith scored two runs and stole Five bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Mendez scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. With that strong performance, Smith is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Eyheralde, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
The victory got Branson back to even at 4-4. As for St. Patrick-St. Vincent, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.
