The Union Area Scotties can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They blew past Eden Christian Academy 52-20 at home. Winning may never get old, but Union Area sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Eden Christian Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Hope Haring. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 60% of Eden Christian Academy's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Eden Christian Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Union Area pushed their record up to 8-5 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Eden Christian Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union Area will face off against Ellwood City at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ellwood City has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 314 points over their last five games. As for Eden Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against St. Joseph at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. St. Joseph will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
