The Kensington KENSINGTON TIGER lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Monday was a bit more commanding. Their rough 48-24 defeat to Masterman might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Kensington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 454th, while Masterman is ranked 77th).
Despite the loss, Kensington saw an underclassman step up: JOCELYN WASHINGTON scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points WASHINGTON has scored all season.
Masterman was led to victory by Jocelyn Goldstein and Sophia Brunelli. Goldstein scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Brunelli scored 19 points along with eight steals and three blocks. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Goldstein has scored at least a third of Masterman's points. Another player making a difference was Hannah Sollie, who scored six points.
Kensington are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.0 points per game. As for Masterman, they pushed their record up to 10-0 with that victory, which was their 17th straight at home.
Kensington will take on Prep Charter at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Masterman, they will head out on the road to take on Motivation at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
