The More Knights will head out on the road to take on the Woodside Wildcats at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. More is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
More will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Monday, then bounced right back against KIPP San Jose Collegiate on Tuesday. The Knights were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Wolfpack. Considering the Knights have won 11 matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Pierce Detar was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Detar was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season.
More was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2025.
Meanwhile, Woodside posted their closest victory since April 16th on Thursday. They skirted past South San Francisco 4-3. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won six in a row.
Carter Ball spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Woodside is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-8 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mateus Mokhtarani, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Colby Fernandez, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Woodside's record is now 12-10. As for More, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
More's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's game. The Knights have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Woodside, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will More continue to outrun the ball?
