Softball Recap: St. Paul Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

While St. Paul's victory against Boone Central wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Cardinals 10-9. The victory was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on three straight.

Addy Wegner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, St. Paul let Kamden Sack and Annie Stepanek run wild. Sack went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Stepanek went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Sack a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Audra Dugan, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

St. Paul now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Boone Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Paul will head out to challenge St. Cecilia at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Boone Central, they will challenge Ord at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
