If the Pine-Richland Rams were riding high off their 59-23 takedown of the Hempfield Area Spartans on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Pine-Richland was the victim of a rough 57-33 loss at the hands of North Allegheny on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Pine-Richland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while North Allegheny is ranked 18th).
Despite the loss, Pine-Richland still got an impressive performance from Madison Zavasky, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Zavasky scored a full 54.5% of Pine-Richland's points, the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Pine-Richland's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for North Allegheny, their victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Seneca Valley the next time they take the court. Pine-Richland will head out to face Seneca Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while North Allegheny will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
