The win was all the more spectacular given Guerin Catholic's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while Sheridan is ranked 110th).
When it comes to explaining why Sheridan lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kenzie Garner. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 51.4% of Sheridan's points, marking the 12th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Sadie Timme, who scored four points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Guerin Catholic's win bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Sheridan, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-4.
Guerin Catholic will head out on the road to square off against Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for Sheridan, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Delphi Community at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Delphi Community is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
