Baseball Game Preview: Stephenson Jaguars vs. Douglass Astros

The Stephenson Jaguars will face off against the Douglass Astros at 5:55 p.m. on Friday.

Things were looking good for Stephenson after they put the first points on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Riverdale by a score of 4-3.

Romando Craddock was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. while going 3-for-3. Stephenson is 4-1 when Craddock posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Fantroy, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Douglass entered their tilt with North Clayton on Wednesday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victor by a 14-4 margin over the Eagles. The Astros might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

Royer Alejandro Bello was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-3. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ja'Narious Barner, who scored a run and stole Four bases. while going 1-for-2.

Douglass always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They are 5-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Stephenson's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-7. As for Douglass, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
