Derry is on a three-game streak of home losses, Valley a ten-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Derry Trojans will take on the Valley Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Derry suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Greensburg Salem, falling 61-29. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Derry in their matchups with Greensburg Salem: they've now lost six in a row.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 77-14, which was the final score in Valley's tilt against Highlands on Monday. While losing is never fun, Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 624th, while Highlands is ranked 110th).
Derry has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.
Everything came up roses for Derry against Valley when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 69-36 win. With Derry ahead 42-19 at the half, the game was all but over already.
