Softball Recap: Gering Extends Winning Streak to Four

Gering had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They blew past the Chadron Cardinals 12-4. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Danae Savala made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Savala was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Rylee Luce was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Rileigh Dane was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.

Gering always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chadron only posted an OBP of .391.

Gering's record is now 9-5. As for Chadron, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6.

Gering wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 8-6 win against Scottsbluff on the 13th. As for Chadron, they will face off against Alliance on Tuesday.
