Basketball Recap: Knight Extends Winning Streak to Five

Knight extended their winning streak (dating back to last season) to five on Saturday, bumping them up to 3-0. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 54-48 W against the Rosamond Roadrunners. This was payback for the Hawks, who suffered a 53-42 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Leading Knight to victory were Kailah Holley and Beautiful McBride. Holley shot 50% from the field to rack up 25 points in addition to five boards and three steals, while McBride dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Those 25 points gave Holley a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Justine Perez, who posted four points.

Knight smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in eight consecutive contests dating back to last season.

As for Rosamond, they now have a losing record of 1-2. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Roadrunners players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nadiyah Baladez, who scored 15 points along with five boards and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Barrera, who earned ten points in addition to six steals and five rebounds.

Coming up, Knight will venture away from home to square off against Saugus at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hawks will be up against the Centurions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 55 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Rosamond, they will welcome Palmdale at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Roadrunners will be up against the Falcons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 69.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
