Shadow Hills hasn't had much luck against Redlands East Valley recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Shadow Hills Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Redlands East Valley Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Shadow Hills 3.1, Redlands East Valley 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Shadow Hills is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Palm Desert.
Shadow Hills saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Arizaga, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Redlands East Valley). They never let Indian Springs get on the board and left with a 21-0 victory on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Brayden Dismang and Ethan Snellings made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Dismang pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Snellings pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Dismang scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1, while Snellings scored three runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joseph Prosper, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Noah Gonzales was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Redlands East Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indian Springs struck out 11 times.
Redlands East Valley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. Shadow Hills now has a losing record of 5-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Shadow Hills has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Redlands East Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
