After flying high against the Hancock Panthers last Wednesday, Fannett Metal came back down to earth. Fannett Metal took a 39-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Forbes Road. Fannett Metal has struggled against Forbes Road recently, as their match on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Forbes Road's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avrie Harr, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 18 rebounds. Those 18 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Ginnah Kendall, who scored 13 points.
Fannett Metal bumped their record down to 1-6 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.2 points per game. As for Forbes Road, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fannett Metal will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Southern Fulton at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024. As for Forbes Road, they will head out on the road to face off against Shade at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Shade is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
