The Kennedy Cougars entered their tilt with the Mira Loma Matadors with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. The stars were shining brightly for Kennedy in a 66-49 win over Mira Loma on Saturday. Given Kennedy's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while Mira Loma is ranked 479th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Aharon Young was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dondre Prothro, who scored 12 points.
Kennedy's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Mira Loma, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4.
Kennedy and Burbank will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Burbank focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Wednesday. As for Mira Loma, they will head out on the road to face off against Highlands at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Highlands is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
