There's no place like home for the South Tahoe Vikings, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Friday. They breezed by Mineral County at home to the tune of 51-7. That looming 51-7 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for South Tahoe yet this season.
Carly Cox was the offensive standout of the match as she scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Long, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds.
South Tahoe's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Mineral County, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-7.
South Tahoe and Fernley will round out the year against one another at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. Fernley will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. Mineral County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Smith Valley at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Smith Valley has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 1.
