West Mesa has gone 6-1 against Albuquerque recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Albuquerque took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on West Mesa, who comes in off a win.
West Mesa is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 55-14 victory over Atrisco Heritage Academy. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 26, 2021, but that streak is no more.

It was another big night for Victor Aguilar Jr., who rushed for 273 yards and four TDs while picking up 11.9 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 120.5 rushing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Marcos Ochoa, who gained 114 total yards and two touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: West Mesa was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 461 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August of 2024.
Meanwhile, Albuquerque faced Los Lunas in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The game between the Bulldogs and the Tigers didn't end well, with the Bulldogs falling 38-24. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
West Mesa will have to contain Alberto Landeros as he made an impact in Albuquerque's last game. He rushed for 69 yards and a pair of scores, and also picked up 51 receiving yards and one touchdown.all of that, receiving production came thanks to one massive catch
West Mesa's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-4. As for Albuquerque, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. West Mesa has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 201.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Albuquerque struggles in that department as they've been averaging 195.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
West Mesa won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, slipping by Albuquerque 21-20. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Landeros, who rushed for 124 yards and one TD on only 11 carries. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Mustangs still be able to contain Landeros? There's only one way to find out.
