The Mayfair Monsoons will challenge the Paramount Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Mayfair 3, Paramount 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Mayfair was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Segerstrom on Thursday. The Monsoons blew past the Jaguars 17-7. The Monsoons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.
Dennis Ferrer looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Aidan Sullivan was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Diaz, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Mayfair kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, Paramount had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They skirted past the Monsoons 4-2.
Luis Banuelos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nicholas MediNa, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run. Zack Moreno was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Paramount's win bumped their record up to 19-4. As for Mayfair, their victory bumped their record up to 16-6.
Mayfair couldn't quite finish off Paramount when the teams last played on Tuesday and fell 4-2. Will the Monsoons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
