Garinger is 2-8 against Porter Ridge since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Garinger Wildcats will be home for the holidays to greet the Porter Ridge Pirates at 10:30 a.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Garinger is ranked 155th, while Porter Ridge is ranked 140th).
After soaring to 67 points the game before, Garinger were a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They were outmatched by Independence at home and fell 73-25. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Garinger has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Garinger saw an underclassman step up: Imonee Patterson scored four points along with five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her. Raziah Mitchell was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Even though Porter Ridge has not done well against Providence recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Porter Ridge enjoyed a cozy 62-44 win over Providence. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Porter Ridge.
Garinger's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Porter Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Garinger was dealt a bruising 64-22 defeat at the hands of Porter Ridge in their previous meeting back in February of 2021. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Garinger was down 40-8.
