Jeremiah Vierra made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Stewart, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Piedmont Hills waltzed into their match on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Chargers 6-4.
Jake Paskert was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Paskert wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Toby Torres, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits Torres has posted since back in May of 2024. Josh Gomez was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Piedmont Hills hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive contests.
Piedmont Hills pushed their record up to 14-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Oak Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-18.
Oak Grove suffered a grim 17-1 defeat to Piedmont Hills when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
