Grossmont extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping them down to 10-14. They came up short against the Point Loma Pointers, falling 9-3. The Foothillers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pointers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.
Grossmont got a good showing from Jonah Martinez, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Martinez gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March.
On the hitting side, Grossmont saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Holmes, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
As for Point Loma, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.
On Point Loma's side, Landon Palmer made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Palmer was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wyatt Olson, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Seiler, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and one double.
Grossmont wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 19-2 win against Valhalla on the 7th. As for Point Loma, they have also already played their next contest, a 7-3 victory against University City on the 6th.
