The George School Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 64-49 bruising from Abington. While losing is never fun, George School can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while Abington is ranked 48th).
Despite the loss, George School still got an impressive performance from Gianna Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Martinez, who scored eight points.
George School has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. As for Abington, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
George School and Academy of the New Church will face off at 4:00 p.m. on January 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Abington, they will head out on the road to take on Central Bucks East at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
