Mission Oak has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Tulare Union The Tribe at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Tulare Union took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mission Oak, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Mission Oak beat Lemoore 53-46. Given Mission Oak's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Lemoore is ranked 933rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mission Oak's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isabella Zepeda, who almost dropped a triple-double on 14 points, ten rebounds, and nine steals. Sierra Calantas was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Tulare Union ended up a good deal behind Shafter on Saturday and lost 57-42.
Mission Oak is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Tulare Union, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.
Mission Oak didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Tulare Union in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 38-33 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Tulare Union's Darleth Felix, who scored eight points along with 18 rebounds and three blocks. Now that she won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Mission Oak to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
