Briarcliff is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Pawling 14-13. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Chase Thompson made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Xander D'onofrio was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-5. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Max Amador, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Briarcliff kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Putnam Valley put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Friday. They blew past Blind Brook 7-0.
Not much got past Reece Horan, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Blind Brook off the board.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Evan Peterson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Louis Peduto was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Briarcliff's record now sits at 15-6-1. As for Putnam Valley, their record is now 16-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Briarcliff has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Putnam Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
