Baseball Recap: Palm Springs Triumphs

Palm Springs hadn't done well against Shadow Hills recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Indians came out on top against the Knights by a score of 9-6. This was a revenge game for the Indians: when they faced off against the Knights on Monday, they had to take a 6-3 loss.

Sean Meza was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Palm Springs is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 5-6 otherwise. Meza was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Max Gonzalez and Jordan Baggett did most of the damage at the plate: Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Baggett went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. That's the most hits Baggett has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Ian Ernesto Arroyo, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Palm Springs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Palm Springs' record is now 11-6. As for Shadow Hills, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

When Palm Springs and Shadow Hills next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Indians will face off against La Quinta and their three-game winning streak at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Shadow Hills will try to stop Burroughs' three-game winning streak when they meet at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Knights 3.5, the Bears 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
