The West Carroll Thunder will venture away from home to challenge the South Beloit Sobos at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. West Carroll has now lost 15 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 9.
West Carroll lost 15-8 to Orangeville on Tuesday.
Silas Lamm and Jacen Anderson did some serious damage despite the final result: Lamm went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Anderson got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Brody Leitzen was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, South Beloit was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They put the hurt on Ashton-Franklin Center with a sharp 14-8 win. The result was nothing new for the Sobos, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Gage Pasiecznik made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zane Hagstrom, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Richard Carlson, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
South Beloit is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-10-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for West Carroll, their loss dropped their record down to 4-19.
