The Institute of Tech Eagles won the last time they faced the Cortland Purple Tigers, and things went their way on Friday too. Institute of Tech walked away with a 46-38 win over Cortland. Given Institute of Tech's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while Cortland is ranked 638th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cortland's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Damauri Bell, who scored six points along with five steals and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Bell posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Albright, who scored 16 points along with two blocks.
Institute of Tech's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Cortland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.
Institute of Tech will head out on the road to face off against Binghamton at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Binghamton's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups. As for Cortland, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Solvay at 6:45 p.m.
