While the Lobos didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Meanwhile, Carson had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against San Pedro by a score of 7-4 on Friday.
Joziah Agredano made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Carson is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 0-8 otherwise. Agredano was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other pitching news, Carson got a great performance from Josiah Ripley as he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Xavier Allen, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Nate Ruan, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Rancho Dominguez pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Carson, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-9.
Rancho Dominguez suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Carson when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Rancho Dominguez avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
