Even though the James Lick Comets have not done well against the Gunderson Grizzlies recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, James Lick made off with a 25-24 victory over the Grizzlies. The win made it back-to-back wins for James Lick.
Several Grizzlies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chiemi Wong, who scored 11 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Wong is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Breanna Bartek, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds and seven steals.
James Lick has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 3-18 record this season. As for Gunderson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.
James Lick will head out on the road to challenge the Royals at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gunderson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Aztec Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
