The Barnesville Trojans are on the road again on Friday and play against the Eden Valley-Watkins Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on November 24th. One thing working in Barnesville's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 games.
Barnesville had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They enjoyed a cozy 38-23 victory over Jackson County Central on Friday. Barnesville's win was all the more impressive since Jackson County Central was averaging only 10.5 points allowed on the season.
Meanwhile, Eden Valley-Watkins put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Cannon Falls/Learning for Life HomeSchool 42-24. Given Eden Valley-Watkins' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Cannon Falls/Learning for Life HomeSchool is ranked 34th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Eden Valley-Watkins' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nolan Geislinger led the charge by rushing for 120 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 259 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Wyatt Moehrle was another key contributor, picking up 192 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Barnesville to 13-0 and Jackson County Central to 9-1.
Barnesville strolled past Eden Valley-Watkins when the teams last played back in November of 2021 by a score of 34-20. Will Barnesville repeat their success, or does Eden Valley-Watkins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
