The Montgomery County Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the East Laurens Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Montgomery County barely beat Claxton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Tigers on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The team relied heavily on Rilynn Dees, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Montgomery County is 2-1 when Dees posts two or more runs, but 6-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jackson Gooden, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Montgomery County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February.
Meanwhile, East Laurens came into Tuesday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Northeast 21-7 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won nine contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Conner Lawrence made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Myles Burke was a standout: he got on base in five of his six plate appearances with five stolen bases and four runs. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Logan Gibson was another key player, going 4-for-6 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.
East Laurens now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Montgomery County, their record now sits at 8-13.
Montgomery County might still be hurting after the 17-4 loss they got from East Laurens when the teams last played back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
