Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rancho Cotate). They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat the Las Lomas Knights 69-39. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 27 points or more this season.
Rancho Cotate's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isabella Scardina, who made all 5 shots she took racking up 10 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals. Scardina has been hot recently, having posted seven or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniela Campos, who made all 7 shots she took to post 16 points and four steals.
Rancho Cotate was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Las Lomas only posted six assists.
Despite the loss, Las Lomas still got an impressive performance from Ariana Cannon, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Tenaya Cooley, who posted six points and three steals.
The win was the third in a row for Rancho Cotate, bringing their record for this year to 8-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.7 points. As for Las Lomas, they dropped their record down to 6-3 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Rancho Cotate didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-52 loss against Franklin on the 27th. As for Las Lomas, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 43-40 defeat against Sacramento on the 27th.
