Softball Recap: Roosevelt Has No Trouble Against Thompson Valley

While Roosevelt put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Thompson Valley. The Roughriders were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Eagles. The Roughriders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by ten runs or more this season.

Roz Muguerza and Mandi Linder did most of the damage at the plate: Muguerza went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Linder went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base was Linder's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaidyn Jones, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Roosevelt kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 8-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Roosevelt is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Thompson Valley, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-9 record.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Roosevelt is set to take on their familiar foe Greeley Central at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Thompson Valley will square off against rival Timnath at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
