After flying high against the Salesian Mustangs last Saturday, the Norco Cougars came back down to earth. Norco fell just short of Palm Springs by a score of 59-57. While losing is never fun, Norco can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 324th, while Palm Springs is ranked 114th).
When it comes to explaining why Norco lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Kameron Brown. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. The matchup was Brown's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Ramiro Morales was another key contributor, scoring five points along with eight steals.
Norco's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Palm Springs, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.
Norco won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Orange Vista at 3:30 p.m. on January 6th. Orange Vista is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Palm Springs, they will head out on the road to face off against La Quinta at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. La Quinta is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
