After flying high against the Urban Blues last Monday, the Lick-Wilmerding Tigers came back down to earth. Lick-Wilmerding's tough 65-40 defeat to the Panthers on Wednesday might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lick-Wilmerding in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost five in a row.
Lick-Wilmerding's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lauryn Lacap, who scored ten points along with two steals. Lacap has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Hailey Moy, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Lick-Wilmerding's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-7. As for San Domenico, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 16-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lick-Wilmerding will challenge the Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. University has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 186 points over their last three matchups. As for San Domenico, they will head out on the road to take on the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Marin Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 505th, while the Panthers are ranked 144th).
