Merrick Millhorn made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Carmi-White County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 0-18 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Hayden Sauls, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
As for Herrin, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-16 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch.
On Herrin's side, Jaxon Hudson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Hudson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Jaxton Faulkenberry was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Skyler Croteau, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Looking ahead, Carmi-White County will challenge Crab Orchard at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.36 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Herrin, they will host Anna-Jonesboro at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
