Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln Fighting Zebras vs. Mira Loma Matadors

The Lincoln Fighting Zebras will face off against the Mira Loma Matadors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln will be strutting in after a victory while Mira Loma will be coming in after a loss.

Last Wednesday, Lincoln strolled past Oakmont with points to spare, taking the game 59-43. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Fighting Zebras.

TAYLOR HODGE and ISA KEIDEL were among the main playmakers for Lincoln as the former dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds and the latter went 8 of 16 en route to 17 points along with six assists and five boards. The dominant performance also gave HODGE a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was TAYLOR BUTLER, who posted seven points and 11 rebounds.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Lincoln was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Mira Loma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Colfax and fell 78-8. While losing is never fun, the Matadors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1173rd, while the Falcons are ranked 106th).

Lincoln is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Mira Loma, their loss dropped their record down to 3-17.

Everything came up roses for Lincoln against Mira Loma in their previous meeting on January 10th, as the team secured a 64-13 win. In that contest, Lincoln amassed a halftime lead of 38-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
