Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Oakwood walked away with it. They snuck past the Cavaliers with a 48-42 win on Thursday. Given Oakwood's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while Serra is ranked 508th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
In what's become a running theme this season, Heritage gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They blew past Twentynine Palms 79-32 at home. The win made it back-to-back wins for Heritage.
Sierra Maxwell was her usual excellent self, scoring 43 points along with 16 steals and 12 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below 15 points for 18 straight games. Another player making a difference was Mariah Logan, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Oakwood has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. As for Heritage, their win bumped their record up to 18-11.
