Amador Valley is 2-8 against De La Salle since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Dons will head out on the road to face off against the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Amador Valley 4, De La Salle 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Amador Valley can't be too worried about heading out to take on De La Salle: they just beat Dublin at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Dons walked away with a 4-1 win over the Gaels on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Dons as they're now sitting on three straight.
Elliot De La Torre spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kade Robertson, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Aidan Foley was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Amador Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, De La Salle entered their tilt with Livermore on Tuesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They put the hurt on the Cowboys with a sharp 18-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Kaleo Jones looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Tyler Spangler was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 3-for-5. Antonio Castro also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
De La Salle pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Amador Valley, their record now sits at 13-7.
Both Amador Valley and De La Salle just can't seem to miss. The Dons have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. However, it's not like De La Salle struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Amador Valley couldn't quite get it done against De La Salle when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 6-2. Can the Dons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
