The Southwestern Academy Sun suffered their biggest loss since November 21, 2023 on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Mesrobian, falling 63-27. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Southwestern Academy has suffered against Mesrobian since January 22, 2019.
Despite the loss, Southwestern Academy still got an impressive performance from Valza Jusufi, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 59.3% of Southwestern Academy's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marifer Durand, who scored two points along with seven steals.
Southwestern Academy bumped their record down to 2-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Mesrobian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southwestern Academy will take on Waverly at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Mesrobian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Sequoyah School at 3:00 p.m. on January 17th.
