Baseball Recap: Montgomery County Triumphs

Montgomery County's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They blew past the Twiggs County Cobras 18-1. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Cobras recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Jackson Gooden was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Gooden was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Matthew Harvey and Alex Danly did most of the damage at the plate: Harvey went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Danly got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Harvey a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landon Williams, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Montgomery County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .889. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Montgomery County's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Twiggs County, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.

Coming up, Montgomery County will challenge Wilcox County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Twiggs County, they will face off against Wheeler County at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
