The Tracy Bulldogs will face off against the Bella Vista Broncos at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams were dealt some close losses in their previous games and are determined not to let this one get away.
Tracy is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest defeat since March 6, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Amador Valley by a score of 9-7. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Leland Freitas was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Jacoby Freitas was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases.
Meanwhile, Bella Vista was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Folsom.
Bella Vista also got a good showing from Chase Rasmussen, who struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Rasmussen has posted since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Cooper Thorn made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three).
Bella Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Tracy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Tracy's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. Tracy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Bella Vista, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Tracy continue to outrun the ball?
Tracy couldn't quite finish off Bella Vista when the teams last played back in March of 2024 and fell 3-1. Will Tracy have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
