Given Bishop Diego's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Carpinteria is ranked 393rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bishop Diego found their leader in underclassman Jaymi Coronado, who scored 21 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Coronado has scored at least 25% of Bishop Diego's points. Another player making a difference was Diana Mendez, who scored 9 points.
Bishop Diego's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Carpinteria, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Bishop Diego won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Fillmore at 7:00 p.m. on November 30th. Carpinteria will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Thacher at 5:30 p.m. on November 30th. Thacher comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
