Baseball Recap: West Hills Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for West Hills, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against the Monte Vista Monarchs on Wednesday as they made off with a 12-4 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Wolf Pack have posted against the Monarchs since May 5, 2022.

Anthony Rosolino made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Kaiden Chambers looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Joey Monetti, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for West Hills: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-9 otherwise. Joey Hamilton was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

West Hills pushed their record up to 6-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Monte Vista, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

West Hills wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-1 win against Valhalla on the 21st. As for Monte Vista, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-3 loss against Santana on the 18th.
