Sadly, the King-Chavez Community Lions are still looking for their first win of the season after eight matches. They were beaten by Ocean View Christian 42-3 on Tuesday. King-Chavez Community was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-1.
Leading Ocean View Christian to victory were Karla Meza and Carmen Palacios. Meza scored ten points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Palacios scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Meza has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Barbeito, who scored six points.
King-Chavez Community dropped their record down to 0-8 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 6.0 points per game. As for Ocean View Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
King-Chavez Community will head out on the road to square off against Monarch at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Monarch's defense has only allowed 29.4 points per game this season, so King-Chavez Community's offense will have their work cut out for them. Ocean View Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
