The Mountain View Spartans had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They came out on top against Saratoga by a score of 54-41. Given Mountain View's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 297th, while Saratoga is ranked 824th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mountain View's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alana Hernandez, who scored 19 points along with five steals. Hernandez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Mikayla Kim was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Mountain View has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Saratoga, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Wilcox the next time they take the court. Mountain View will host Wilcox at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Saratoga will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
