Baseball Recap: St. Anne-Pacelli Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

St. Anne-Pacelli's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Abbeville Christian Academy Generals. That's more bragging rights for the Vikings, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Hunter Hall and Billy Smith dominated on the mound. Hall tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit, while Smith struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Hall also tossed a walk, which is notable because St. Anne-Pacelli is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Jihran Gomilla was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Nolan Vaughn also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

St. Anne-Pacelli moved to 7-6 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Abbeville Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

St. Anne-Pacelli wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 5-0 loss against Brookstone on the 18th. As for Abbeville Christian Academy, they have also already played their next game, a 12-0 win against Crenshaw Christian Academy on the 17th.
